FAQ
These are some of the questions that we get asked frequently…
WHERE AND WHEN DOES CRUINNIÚ NA BHFLIÚIT TAKE PLACE?
From the evening of the Wednesday after Easter Sunday to late on the following Saturday (3-6 April 2024). It happens at various venues in Baile Bhuirne (Ballyvourney) in the Muscraí Gaeltacht. See the Programme for the timing and exact locations.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Go to the Registration page and follow the instructions there.
HOW CAN I BE SURE THAT I’VE REGISTERED?
You will receive two emails: one from PayPal confirming your payment, and another from Cruinniú na bhFliúit confirming your registration. Check your Junk folder if you haven’t received these emails a few minutes after completing your payment.
When you click on the PayPal button on the Checkout after Register, you will be prompted to give a name. Please make sure that the name you give here is that of THE PERSON ATTENDING, even if the person paying is someone different (important for the Child tickets).
WHAT DO I DO IF I CAN’T PAY VIA PAYPAL?
Anyone with a credit card can pay using PayPal, by just following the instructions on the PayPal site. Don’t have access to a credit card? In this case, please contact us by e-mail at [email protected].
HOW GOOD A PLAYER DO I HAVE TO BE TO BENEFIT FROM THE CLASSES?
Unlike almost every other teaching festival worldwide, we don’t grade students into classes such as beginner, intermediate or advanced. Instead we try and ensure a mix of ages, abilities, genders, and nationalities in each class, and our teachers are primed to teach a class of such mixed abilities. It has been our experience that many people can learn from watching how others learn. That said you would normally begin to benefit at the stage where you are starting to build a repertoire of tunes, and starting to play in sessions.
WILL I BE WITH THE SAME TEACHER FOR THE THREE DAYS?
From the beginning, our idea was to ensure as high a level of interaction between teachers and students as possible. You’ll note from the programme that there are six class periods – two on each of the three mornings – and of course, six teachers. Thus each student has a class from each teacher.
